Goodbye Muggies!

Dear Friends,
It's a glorious day in Wisconsin.   The temp is hovering in the low 7o's, there is no humidity (worth mentioning anyway), and a light breeze.  The windows are open and one can hear birds singing.   Days don't come any better than this.   It's a welcome relief after almost 2 weeks of high heat and high humidity.   And the best part is that I don't hurt anywhere! Humidity and Arthritis don't get along at all.  In fact, I hurt much less in the winter than in the summer when the humidity is with us.

What is everyone doing for the long weekend coming up?  For over 25 years we camped with a group of friends, and I do miss that on the holiday weekends. But, I don't miss all the work that goes with it.   It was getting to be too much for Mr. D. and me.   Maybe we'll go out there for a day trip to visit for a couple of hours.   Will see if it is going to rain or not.

The Streptocarpella plant pictured above is blooming it's little heart out this year.   Every year I get two baskets for each side of our patio.   It is a plant that likes mostly shade with a little filtered sun peeking through.  Our patio seems to be the perfect spot for it.   This is the first year that I haven't had a hummingbird visit every night.   Or at least, I haven't seen one.   The hummers do like the plant and I have missed seeing them this year.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend.  For us living in the northern states, it usually signals the end of summer (although we do have many nice days ahead of us in Sept and Oct.)

Until next time,

  1. Wot a great post Mariodacatsmom! So happy dat yoo iz feeling good today! Me n Mom iz vary jealous of dat pawsum weather yoo iz hafing - we not like da pawful heat & hoomidity either...Pfffftttt! hee! xo

  3. Glad you have such glorious weather. Ours is warming up after some lovely days. I hate the humidity too. Working most of the weekend. Hope to enjoy Sunday.

  4. That is a beautiful plant! I'd say the hummingbirds have been around when you've not noticed. I hope your heat and humidity have left for the season. They continue here where we are.:( I'm not a fan! Thank you for your visits to my blog! Enjoy your week-end!

  5. What a pretty plant! Hasn't this been a wonderful summer weatherwise? We're looking forward to a nice weekend and hopefully lots of mild weather to come. {{hugs}}

  6. I hate to see the summer end but I am always glad to see the humidity go away. It has been a beautiful summer here in the east coast with lower than normal temperatures and I am loving it.

I hope you continue to feel well. Don't give up on a hummingbird visit, there is still time for them to stop by.

  7. I'm glad that it has cooled off, and there's been a break from the humidity. I hope it lasts, and you continue to feel better. Hope you have a happy, and healthy holiday weekend, Mary!

  8. IT's boiling hot here. And humid. But that will end before long and we will be talking about how freezing cold it is and why does it snow every day? xxoo

  9. Thanks for following my little blog Of Petals and Wool and leaving a comment. I have dealt with the heat and humidity and it drains the life out of me but here too and it bothers my arthritis, For a few days now the air is drier and it's cool in the morning. Fall is on it's way.

    Have a great long weekend.

  10. Hi Mariodacatsmom, thanks for your comment on my blog. I did not made the molds but bought them from mold companies, mostly in the States.

I used to teach hobby ceramics 31 years ago. I taught for ten years and then bought a large ceramic business who had money problems and couldn't pay their creditors and owed the bank a lot of money. I borrowed money from our bank and I sold ceramic greenware to other ceramic studios for all our province.

I had to make a decision to continue the business that I loved or to close and devote my time to go on a spiritual journey. I chose the spiritual journey and I never regretted it. I have found out that God loves me just the way I am and God is always with me.

I wanted to return doing ceramics but started working on our dairy farm with salary and lost interest when most of the studios and suppliers were also closing. I still have some ceramic bisque to paint but not enough time.

I sold lots of my molds, supplies, paint and glazes at huge discounts and the rest I'm giving away and this will free me to do other things and I will get my garage back.

So that's the story on the ceramic molds.
